USCCB Movie Ratings and Reviews

You might have noticed the strange acronym under the Top Clicks heading. This is actually a site I use quite often. The official umbrella site is United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (that's a mouthful), but generally speaking, it's just a great place to get a conservative review of a movie. For instance, let's say Sparks wanted to see Iron Man (which he does). When I look it up on the USCCB Office for Film and Broadcasting Iron Man review, it says

Nongraphic sexual activity, torture, a graphic medical procedure, sci-fi violence, occasional crude language, a brief profanity, sexual humor and innuendo. A-III -- adults. (PG-13)

I spoke with a friend who saw it and she mentioned at least one scene like this. So basically, the site gives you the rundown on whether it's a violence PG-13, sexual content PG-13, intense drama PG-13 . . .you get the idea. So no, Sparks won't be seeing that one in the theatre. The site assigns its own ratings to movies and tells you what to expect from the content a lot more specifically than the regular G, PG, PG-13, R system.

We'll check out Iron Man later on a Clean Movies version at home.

Happy Fourth of July
